tour of Anzio, Montecassino, and U.S. Overseas Military Cemetery at Nettuno

Anzio and Nettuno are witnesses of one of the most important battles of 2nd World War in the year 1944. During that battle many American soldiers died and their bodies are now in the U.S. Overseas Military Cemetery at Nettuno, Italy. There, you can also visit a beautiful stone where the names of thousands of World War II casualties were engraved.

Anzio and Nettuno also offer the possibility to visit the surrounding areas such as the wonderful middle age abbey of Montecassino, where many documents and ancient books are exposed in a museum; the National Park of Circeo, where a wonderful sea hugs a promontory rich in of history, legend and carachterized by a particular and suggestive natural environment. The mountain of Circeo was one of the stages of Ulysses trip through the Mediterranean sea.

The country of Southern Lazio is suggestive and it deserves to be visited; it is carachterized by small medieval towns perched on hills and wide cultivated fields.
